Thinking Of Starting An Online Business ?
If you are looking to get a website designed for your company or your thinking of starting your very own website business then you need to read this first.
After about an hour of searching for a good but cheap website designer you will probably be getting to the point where it starts to get overwhelming as there seems to be so many options and so many companies to choose from.
Well sit back and relax a minute, take a breather, I have a solution to this and you only need to answer these questions below…
- What’s your budget?
- What is the nature of your business?
- Are you looking for a shop or brochure style website?
- If a brochure style site how many pages, usually 4+?
- Do you require hosting?
- Do you have a domain name?
- Do you need to update some content on your site yourself, i.e. news, portfolio etc?
- And finally, find a website that you like the look of and remember the address.
Put all this information into an email and send it to at least 10 of the website design companies that instantly caught your attention, forget price, forget the flashy ad’s, just look at them, if you think, “Hey nice website” then you like their style, they go on your list until you have ten of them.
Write an email similar to this one below and send it to each company you have chosen…
“Hi, I am looking for a website to be designed for my electrical engineering business, I have a budget of £500, I am looking for a brochure style with at least 6 web pages, fully hosted and a domain of my choice. I need to update on a daily basis my news area so I will need to manage this myself.
I have seen a website called http://www.whosthis.co.uk and I like the style, could you give me a price on my requirements please.”
That’s how to make it easy and all you and they need to know.
Most web design companies will provide the complete service from a doodle on a notepad to the launch of your new website.
When you start to receive replies to your emails, look at the ones which seem more personal not commercial, i.e. if you get a reply from a human not a automated response or they demand your contact details so some super salesman can bug you by trying to get you to sign up for a £10’000 website of your dreams for only £5. a month for life, take each quote and pick out 5 of the best, then look at them again and pick out 2 of the best of the best and call them to get more information.
If any fail to impress you, dump them and move on to the next favourite.
Follow these simple steps and you should get a great deal and a quality website.
